Basic construction of current-controlled relay protection
Self Powered relays
Secondary Injection Test
Primary Injection Test
Current transformer
Ground fault measurement
Test equipment: Megger Sverker 900
Current controlled relay test, course description
The course focus is onsite testing of relays. The basic terms and measurement techniques are covered. A typical application is relay testing in wind turbines where a secondary and/or primary injection test is performed. Often self-powered relays are used which are also included in the course. The course includes also the use of a relay tester, in this case the Megger Sverker 900.
Current transformer and ground fault measurement are briefly covered.
Protection relays
Protection of individual components and the power grid
Several courses in relay testing and description of terms are currently being worked on, contact us for specific requests. Currently working on a course that describes classic relay protection methods and its parameters: Distance relays, frequency, voltage and differential current (typically for switchgear). Each of these sub-elements is important to ensure selectivity and not shut down too much of the grid in the event of a failure. Relay testing is an important part of ensuring stability, partly to make sure that a shutdown is triggered, but also that an unintentional shutdown does not occur.
